Oban 14 Year Old Bottling Note A bustling seaside resort has grown up around the distillery in the two centuries since it was first built in the fishing town of Oban. The West Highland malt is still produced in the same unhurried, traditional fashion and this 14 year old is a classic whisky from the distillery.

Finish: long, dry, malt. Comment: A very unique dram. Juxtaposed between the the sweet smooth highland influence and the raw spicy coastal flavours. Pepper, a little salt, nutmeg, hints of tangy mustard.

Medium-long but with nice floral passes and a lot more of that raw, herby honey. Overall: A satisfying dessert dram. Honeyed and full-bodied, it reminds me a lot of white port, but with more bite. It’s hard to imagine anyone not loving Oban 14. Leave off the water on this one, though.
